The tricky part of photographing pre-dawn light in Florida Bay is the effort of boating across hidden cuts and sediment banks in the dark. I knew, however, that I really wanted an image showing a setting full-moon and red mangroves. When I arrived at one of my favorite islands I was surprised to find a storm building on the horizon. In the middle of the exposure I was given another gift as streaks of lightning came down from the clouds.
