Wilderness Workshops

By popular demand, I am offering a handful of workshops in 2014. For those who are looking for an unforgettable experience in some of the country's most wild places, these Wilderness Workshops are made for you. Not only will you walk away with stunning images and a deeper understanding of how to use your camera, you will get an opportunity to venture out to exclusive locations where few ever go. Part of what has shaped my passion and commitment to conservation is the experience of witnessing the natural world at its best. I want to share that with you. These workshops and locations are not for the faint of heart. You will work hard for your images. You will sweat, you will get wet, you will see a side of the country you never knew existed, you will forge new friendships, you will be transformed and you will find yourself.

I have taught photography for the last ten years to a wide range of clientele. From the rural mountain villages of Honduras; to the volcanic lakes of Guatemala; to the sagebrush country of Wyoming; and into the heart of the Florida Everglades, I have guided students, families, and individuals of all ages. On these multi-day trips you will learn how to master your camera, improve your editing process, and shoot with a purpose. Space is limited to maintain the intimacy of these sessions.

Four Holes Swamp - South Carolina

"I've lived in and explored the mountains for 14 years and have seen more wildlife here in these two days with you... you made a believer out of me." -Darrin Hamlin 2013

Explore the world's largest remaining stand of old growth cypress and tupelo trees. It is impossible to describe the beauty and wildness of this place, though I'll say this: of all the wetlands and swamps I've been in, this remote section of bottomland is by far the most scenic and pristine. Hiking beneath a canopy that dates back more than 1,400 years is like walking into a time machine. You will be blown away. For schedule, reservations, and details CLICK HERE

Everglades - Florida

A campsite on Rabbit Key in Everglades National Park and Ten Thousand Islands, Florida.

The Everglades is my bread and butter. Before and after the book release of Everglades: America's Wetland, I will be leading photography expeditions into the backcountry to show you a side of the River of Grass that you've never seen. Working with Garl's Coastal Kayaking, we will hike, paddle, boat, and camp in and around Everglades National Park. If you've been looking for adventure, this is your trip. A Bar A Ranch - Wyoming

"I've been coming to the ranch for 20 years, I've never seen it this way before. Absolutely incredible." -

This is as remote as it gets and one of the most comprehensive workshops I'll offer this year. Enjoy six days in the sagebrush country of the North Platte River Valley surrounded by 250,000 acres of pure Wyoming wilderness. Partnering with the A Bar A Ranch, clients will have a chance to photograph fishermen, wildlife, horses, and incredible views while staying in beautiful cabins and dining on 4-star cuisine. We will cover everything from landscape, to wildlife, to action, to portraits, to night photography during this week. Clients will even have the chance to ride horses and fly fish on 13 miles of private stream and river. For schedule, reservations, and more details CLICK HERE.
